BestBuy is currently selling never-locked, imported iPhones for $850 after tax. Coupled with the montly cost of a voice & data plan after tax of approximately $80 per month, This amounts to an initial 2 year cost of $2,770. At this price, it just makes more sense to get an iPhone for $99 with a 2-year contract for $2,019 for the first two years.

But all that is irrelevant to me, when I think of people willing to spend TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS for instant communication - something that didn’t event exist 15 years ago. Two grand could feed me for two years and cover my transportation costs - you know, the restaurants I gather with friends at, and the cars/bikes/busses that can take me there. Life is much better in real life.
