Jazz man Sam Rivers will play FFF closing gala
Miranda booked jazz legend Sam Rivers for the Florida Film Festival’s closing night party tonight. Why the FFF hasn’t bothered to invite a local legend to play in the 17 years prior is beyond me, but it couldn’t have worked out any better than this year: coincidentally, there is a documentary short about Sam entitled Jazz Master of the Moment playing not only in the festival this year, but on the last day, hours before he plays live at the Revel.
This couldn’t have come together more perfectly; Sam is enthralled he has been invited to play the festival and is bringing his orchestra with him instead of the usual trio. I’m more than proud to say my fiance is responsible for not only this, but countless events tied into the festival over the past two weeks.
This will be her 25th day in a row she has worked from practically sunrise (and sometimes even earlier) until way past sunset. It’s going to be nice to have her back, but more importantly for her to get some much needed rest.
