My brother preordered me the vinyl for Dent May’s debut full length as a birthday present, and it’s probably going to get the most mileage as far as birthday presents go. This album is start to finish perfect. Imagine if Jonathan Richman & Jens Lekman traveled through time LOST-style to teach a child in the heart of Mississippi everything they know.

This album is the product of that unique boy’s backwoods isolation and college career at Ole Misss. Growing up anywhere else or not recording this album would have been highly unfortunate. The ‘tropicalia crooner’ follows in the footsteps of his influences, yet never tries to cover them up completely or pretend they were never there.
