South of the South

To an artist, I imagine artistic inspiration and ability comes fairly easy. It seems an artist never has to attempt to make art - it just happens naturally.
As a computer company, Apple attempts to design its products by perfection and to appeal to wide range of people, yet their products still fall into (mostly) stereotypical hands. Whereas Apple is the Road Island School of Design that you or I would never be admitted into by conventional art standards or without blue blood, Microsoft’s Windows is a diving board into the deep end of the local public creativity pool. And guess what? There’s no admission price, and there’s no lifeguard on duty.
Not surprisingly, the nondescript tools and utilities that Windows provides to create sometimes take on a life of their own, creating art out of err. And isn’t that what inspired us to create in the first place?
